Civil trial and appellate practice has been
a principal focus of the firm’s work since its start in 1964. In the
course of its growth, the firm also has developed concentrations in
other areas such as bankruptcy and in mediation services. Although
members of the firm have represented plaintiffs in occasional
notable lawsuits, most of its litigation practice has centered on
the defense of civil actions, both for self-insured entities and in
insurance defense.
Members of the firm have extensive
experience in a wide range of tort and contract litigation. They
have been active in defending professional liability cases (lawyers,
hospitals, doctors, nurses, dentists, accountants), including Errors
and Omissions (E&O) claims, and in litigating
cases in the areas of contract disputes, civil rights, premises
liability, construction claims, product liability, vehicle
collisions, eminent domain, employment law, workers’ compensation,
insurance subrogation and recovery,
and claims against governmental entities and insurers.
