Bankruptcy and insolvency law is the focus of Bob Waldschmidt's practice. A former president of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (1998-1999), he has served as trustee in over 50 reported bankruptcy decisions that have helped define trustees' rights under the Bankruptcy Code. He has been a bankruptcy trustee since 1976, first under the Bankruptcy Act, then as a Chapter 7 panel trustee under the Bankruptcy Code after it was enacted in 1978. He has also been appointed receiver in federal and state cases. Mr. Waldschmidt still serves as trustee and as receiver, and represents debtors/creditors/trustees/receivers in insolvency proceedings.

Mr. Waldschmidt has testified before the House Subcommittee on Bankruptcy Reform, has chaired several legislative committees and has spoken at numerous seminars, both locally and at a national level. He appeared numerous times before the Bankruptcy Review Commission, when it was meeting to consider proposals for changes to the bankruptcy laws.

Mr. Waldschmidt earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1976, after graduating summa cum laude with a B.S. in mathematics from Hillsdale College in 1973. He is Director on the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute, a Director of the Trustee's Education Network, and a member of the Commercial Law League of America, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, as well as the Nashville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations.
