Tracy Shaw was one of the first lawyers certified as a civil trial specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. He has tried civil lawsuits since his affiliation with the firm in 1982, and is board certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He also is listed by the Supreme Court of Tennessee's Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission as a Rule 31 general civil mediator.

Mr. Shaw was recently peer review rated as one of the top 150 lawyers in Tennessee in the 2009 edition of Business TN Magazine, and has been similarly elected in multiple editions of Nashville Business Journal's "Best of the Bar" publications. He has also been recognized for his work for many years in Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Shaw is licensed to practice law both in Tennessee and California, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Nashville Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation. He earned his law degree from Pepperdine University in 1979 and is a 1975 graduate of the University of North Carolina. Before affiliating with the firm, he was a law clerk for Judge Jerry Scott of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals.
